A New York City Taxi Drivers License is called a "Hack License. Officially, he is known as a New York City Taxi Operators License. HOW TO OBTAIN A PERMIT Hack in NYC
The process and requirements
• Every candidate for New York City Taxi Hack License must not be less than nineteen (19) years of age
• Candidates are required to have a Class A, B, C or E NY State driver's license or a license from New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania or a similar category.
• Most licenses in NewYork State are Class D.
• To change a license from a Class D to Class E, it must go to the Department of Motor Vehicles and pay a fee to upgrade.
• There will be no trial.
• Fees will be approximately fifty dollars.
A problem with how to get a hack license is that the applicant must have no outstanding parking, or traffic citations. If money is owed to the City of New York for parking or traffic violations, he must pay, or documented settlement agreement with the appropriate agency must be submitted to the NYC T & LC Licensing Division.

• The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00 pm.
• Payment must be made by money order payable to Lab Corp Inc.

A portion is open book and another book is closed. First part consists of ten questions. The applicantis authorized to use five (5) borough of New York City Atlas and an index of street address during this part of the review. For this part of the forty-five minutes of examination is authorized.
• Part of the New York City Taxi Operators exam allows applicants sixty-five minutes and consists of forty questions. Approximately twelve questions will relate to rules and regulations and defensive driving issues. Twenty-eight questions will be related to geography, monuments, roads, air, bus terminals and train, etc. Candidates must correctly answer questions thirty-five, scoring seventy percent or better to pass the exam. Candidates failing the examination are allowed to sit for a second examination at another date. Candidates failing the exam a second time must submit a new application to the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission if they wish to continue the process.
Taxi drivers in New> York City earn as much as a thousand dollars a week or more.
